Not now! I'm putting for birdie.
Much to-do has been made in the press about the President’s "cutting short his vacation" to return to Washington. Let's be clear -- and stop acting like giddy cheerleaders trying to animate a losing team: Bush should have dropped everything and returned to Washington on Sunday, certainly no later than Monday.
The idea that our president "vacationed" while millions of Americans were facing an impending natural disaster is bad enough -- the fact that he continued to vacation after the horrific effects of that disaster became known is unconscionable.
This man is our leader, not a petulant child -- which is how he has been acting. And the press -- the great enabler -- caters to him as if they were trying to placate a child having a fit in public.
While millions of Americans literally fought for their lives -- and, in God knows how many cases, lost -- Bush strummed a guitar and ate cake on holiday in California.
"Let them eat cake!" and "Nero fiddled as Rome burned" have never had as much meaning as they do now.
